Call for Papers

Education Graduate Students’ Society (EGSS) of McGill University
11th annual conference

(e)Merging Knowledges: Classroom, Community, Culture
Faculty of Education, McGill University
March 9-10, 2012

Keynote Speakers
Dr. Sherene Razack (University of Toronto - OISE)
Dr. Jessica Ruglis (McGill University)

As we gather this year in the McGill Education Building, EGSS focuses on emerging knowledges that occur in conventional and unconventional spheres. We are excited by the possibility that new knowledge may arise as classroom, community, and culture converge in a research conference setting. The EGSS committee looks forward to hosting a series of critical conversations in March 2012.

We invite proposals that explore and connect multiple aspects of education from students, researchers, and faculty members from across Canada and around the world. These multiple aspects include: the philosophical to the practical, the local to the global, the past to the present, and interdisciplinary studies to classroom-based studies. In particular, we welcome examinations of forms of education that take place in academic, classroom- based, social, political, cultural, and virtual community settings; examinations of how knowledge drawn from these settings can instruct and connect researchers and practitioners; and examinations of how this knowledge can be used to create dialogue that extends beyond research communities and into local and global communities.

This year’s EGSS conference welcomes proposals from all areas of Education and related fields, including but not limited to:

Cultural Studies
Education and Society
Curriculum and Pedagogy
Library and Information Studies
Critical Pedagogy
Literacy Studies
Early Childhood Education
Educational and Counselling Psychology
Second Language Education
