1.  Reminder: Help us get student feedback by June 6th to improve our website
Thank you to those who encouraged students to participate: we have received 200 student responses so far.
Your students in grades 7 to 12 can help us make our website more relevant to the needs of students by filling in our brief online questionnaire about how they use the Internet.
The questionnaire is available until June 6, 2010 at:
https://evaluation.statcan.gc.ca/Content-contenu/LR-RE/ in English or https://evaluation.statcan.gc.ca/Content-contenu/RE-LR/ in French.

2.  Father’s Day…by the numbers
Father’s Day is June 20th.  Did you know?
*    20% of one-parent families were headed by men in 2006.
*    In 12% of two-parent families in Canada with one employed parent, it was the father who stayed home in 2009.
Find out more by clicking on “Father’s Day…by the numbers” in our updated Family Matters http://www.statcan.gc.ca/edu/edu06/edu06e/edu06e_0056-eng.htm feature, available on the Students http://www.statcan.gc.ca/edu/edu02_0000-eng.htm page.

3.  Census at School is open until June 25th
Has your class participated yet in this year’s Census at School http://www19.statcan.gc.ca/r000-eng.htm online survey project for grades 4 to 12? If not, try it as an engaging end-of year activity. Students love to collect and analyze data about themselves and their peers. So far this year, more than 27,500 students have joined in!
Census at School Canada is now on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/CensusAtSchool-Canada/100219316685559), as is our international partner, CensusAtSchool Australia.

4.  Family Studies and Health : Food statistics
According to the new 2009 edition of “Food Statistics http://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/21-020-x/21-020-x2009001-eng.htm”, in the past two decades, Canadians have shifted towards a diet which includes more fruits and vegetables, cereal products, and nuts and beans. Find this publication in Family Studies and Home Economics : Key resources http://www.statcan.gc.ca/kits-trousses/courses-cours/edu05_0010a-eng.htm, under “Articles”, then “Food and nutrition”.

5.  Statistics workshop for Math and Science teachers Vancouver, August 45, 2010
Designed for middle and high school mathematics and science teachers, this full-day workshop will strengthen understanding of statistics and provide hands-on activities to use in the classroom.
