ACDE President Dr. Lace Marie Brogden to address global education challenges at GNDE Symposium in Austria

August 20, 2024 | Dr. Lace Marie Brogden, Dean of the Faculty of Education at St. Francis Xavier University and President of the Association of Canadian Deans of Education (ACDE), will represent ACDE at the inaugural in-person International Symposium of the Global Network of Deans of Education (GNDE) in Innsbruck, Austria, from September 2-4, 2024.

During the symposium, Dr. Brogden will speak on a panel addressing “The Global Challenges and Opportunities of Teacher Education.” Her presentation will emphasize the ACDE’s role in developing national discourses on public education, particularly through the creation and renewal of ACDE’s Accords, which influence and guide teacher education and educational research across Canada. Dr. Brogden will also highlight the importance of ethical relationality in fostering collective wisdom and collaboration among deans from diverse educational systems.

Dr. Brogden’s participation underscores ACDE’s commitment to engaging with global educational leaders to address shared challenges, such as the global teacher shortage. By bringing the Canadian perspective to the international stage, Dr. Brogden will contribute to the development of strategies that not only address national priorities but also align with global efforts to advance education for a sustainable future.

This symposium marks a historic milestone for GNDE, offering a platform for deans from around the world to engage in meaningful dialogue and explore opportunities for international collaboration in teacher education.
