CIESC Douglas Ray Award

CIESC Douglas Ray Award

CIESC/SCECI is issuing a call for submissions for the Douglas Ray Award to be presented at the 2020 Annual Conference. The award recognizes a meritorious paper presented by a Graduate student (at the Master or Doctoral level) at the 2019 CIESC/SCECI Annual Conference.

Purpose

The purpose of the award is to give recognition to outstanding research in the field of comparative and international education, and to facilitate communication about that research. It is hoped that such recognition will encourage and stimulate further high-quality research by graduate students.

Criteria

The major criterion for the award is research excellence. When reviewing submissions, the CIESC/SCECI Award Committee for the Douglas Ray Award will pay special attention to the following:
a) the significance of the problem addressed;
b) the conceptualization and design of the research presented;
c) the clarity of writing and organization of the paper; and
d) the potential value of the research for theory development, improved practice and future research.

Eligibility

The candidate must have presented his or her paper as a graduate student at the CIESC/SCECI 2019 Annual Conference at the University of British Columbia. The student must submit a complete version of the paper to be adjudicated, up to 7,000 words not including the abstract and references.
