CSSE New Scholar Fund
CSSE New Scholar Fund
CSSE was established to gain recognition for Education and research support for individuals working in the field. The Society provides opportunities to engage in research, present and publish findings, discuss ideas and questions, and build links with colleagues through its publications, its conferences, its committees and advocacy, its links with other organizations, and its charitable status.
To recognize and support the work of new colleagues, the Society has created The CSSE New Scholar Fund, a programme of awards for new scholars within its charitable status. The Fund seeks to raise $125,000, the income from which will make possible the awards. Individuals and groups will be encouraged to fund specific awards, such as named Fellowships; those contributing over $500 will be recognized as benefactors and may have their names associated with a particular award. Charitable status enables the Society to give contributors a receipt for income tax purposes entitling them to a tax credit of up to 50¢ for each dollar contributed.
Starting in 2003, the Fund will offer a series of CSSE New Scholar Fellowships open to full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professors in Education in an academic unit in Canada. The Fellowships provide support for travel to the CSSE Annual Conference, registration, and accommodation. Fellowship will be recognized at the Society’s Annual General Meeting.
