McGill University –Postdoctoral Fellow Position in Learning Sciences, Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology
McGill University invites applications for a 1-year Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Advanced Technologies for Learning in Authentic Settings Laboratory http://www.mcgill.ca/atlas-lab/. The postdoctoral fellow will assist with the management of research activities involving the design, development, evaluation, and implementation of technology-rich learning environments (TREs). The project involves an international research collaboration consisting of 17 researchers, and other partner organizations and stakeholders and is funded by Social Sciences and Humanities Research (SSHRC). The candidate will be involved in building, modifying and testing technology rich learning environments, establishing student models and dynamic forms of assessments, adept with physiological data and affective sensing devices, coding, think-aloud protocols and log file analyses. The focus of the research is examining the relationship between learning and affect in specific contexts. The candidate will work with Dr. Susanne Lajoie to conduct research with members of an interdisciplinary team, contribute to scholarly writing, coordinate team meetings and help coordinate grant milestones and reporting.
Qualifications. A Ph.D in educational psychology, psychology, cognitive science, computer science or related fields with a research focus related to the orientations of AtlasLab. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal, writing and research skills (quantitative and qualitative methodologies), strong time management and organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and work both independently and as a member of a research team. The candidate should have prior experience with and future goals for publishing research. Candidates with an interest in the affect and learning, technology rich learning environments, data mining and discourse processing are encouraged to apply. McGill University regulations require that Postdoctoral Fellows be within five years of graduating with a Ph.D. or equivalent (including a recognized health professional degree plus a medical specialty) and engaged in research with and under the supervision of a member of McGill’s academic staff.
