OISE: 50 Years of Impact (Jackson Lecture May 9th)

Greetings,

Many of you will remember the OISE 100th Anniversary celebrations in 2006-07 when we recognized a century of Education at the University of Toronto. OISE is now preparing to highlight another important historical moment through our 50 Years of Impact events.

This year (2015-16) marks 50 years since the establishment of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. This was a milestone for education in the Province of Ontario under the visionary leadership of the Hon. William G. Davis who saw the need to develop a world-class centre for research and graduate studies. The Institute has had a huge impact on research, policy and practice locally, nationally and globally. Our website features video-clips of some of the individuals who are uniquely positioned to remind us of some key contributions, including Mr. Davis.

Moderated by TVO’s Steve Paikin, this year’s Jackson Lecture will focus on 50 Years of Impact by primarily looking forward to the next 50 years and OISE’s role in addressing the key educational questions of the twenty-first century. Please find the invitation enclosed and join us for this unique conversation on the past, present and future of education and educational research.
