Our unique Student Refugee Program praised at the United Nations

WUSC was recently in Geneva to attend the United Nations high-level meeting on pathways for Syrian admissions. Throughout the meeting, the transformative role higher education can play in refugee resettlement was highlighted, along with WUSC’s innovative Student Refugee Program.

We are pleased to announce that during the meeting the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada pledged to support the growth of the SRP. As part of this initiative, in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, we will soon be exploring ways in which we can support other countries to develop similar programs with the aim of scaling up the number of opportunities for young refugees to continue their education around the world.
