Support Mechanisms for Evidence-based Policy-Making in Education

Evidence-based policy requires high quality evidence if it is to be effective. What types of evidence are used in the creation of education policy? What are the similarities and differences between European countries’ approach to using evidence? What sorts of support mechanisms exist to support evidence-based policy-making?

Eurydice’s latest publication Support Mechanisms for Evidence-based Policy-Making in Education provides preliminary answers. The report provides an initial mapping of a very complex area. It compares institutions and practices in evidence-based policy-making, as well as the accessibility, and mediation, of evidence. The report presents specific examples of the use of evidence in policy formulation for each individual country.
