New Video Will Help Users Create Citations for ERIC Resources

Working on a list of references? In response to frequent questions to the ERIC Help Desk, ERIC has released a new video entitled Creating Citations Using Elements in the ERIC Record. This video helps students and other users who are writing research papers or other academic pieces develop citations for the resources they consulted in ERIC.

The video walks through the creation of citations for three common types of materials in ERIC: journal articles, reports, and conference papers. The most frequently required style guides in education research are used as references for creating the example citations. These style guides include The Chicago Manual of Style, Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), and MLA Handbook from the Modern Language Associati! on. The video demonstrates how to identify the elements required by the style guides in the ERIC record.

For researchers who use automated tools, the video also highlights ERIC’s Export feature found on the ERIC website. This feature creates a file of your search results that can be imported to a citation tool for formatting.
