Help us articulate the importance of the humanities and social sciences

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to join the conversation about how our community can articulate the value of the humanities and social sciences. We still have spaces available for more participants to join round-table conversations at Congress 2018 and online. If you have not yet done so, please sign up at www.ideas-idees.ca/role-HSS to participate and feel free to pass on this invitation to your colleagues.

Sincerely,

Gabriel Miller
Executive Director

The Role of the Humanities and Social Sciences
The Federation is launching an ambitious new project to help the humanities and social science community articulate the value of their scholarship. Our objective is to develop a renewed, evidence-based account of how the humanities and social sciences affect people’s lives in the 21st century and to communicate this effectively to key audiences in government, the media, the higher-education sector and the general public.

Have your say
We are committed to developing this project in collaboration with the humanities and social sciences community and we invite scholars and students in these disciplines to share their insights with us between May and July, either in writing or by participating in one of the round table discussions the Federation will be hosting throughout May and June 2018. Your input will help us develop the key messages featured in a major report to be published in 2019. Visit www.ideas-idees.ca/role-HSS to select an option that suits your schedule.

Spread the word
We encourage you to share this invitation with your peers, students and other colleagues you feel should have the opportunity to contribute to this project. If you have further questions, contact the project lead, Peter Severinson, at pseverinson@ideas-idees.ca.

We believe strongly that the humanities and social sciences strengthen and enrich our society, and we welcome insight from across our diverse community to help us tell our story.
