WERA@10YEARS sessions at the Annual American Education Research Association Conference in Toronto 2019
The AERA Annual Conference this year, took place in Toronto, Canada. These symposia sessions were in celebration of WERA being ten years old.
The first session was titled Tackling Diversity and Inclusion through Education Research – Issues for Research. The session was chaired by Gustavo E. Fischman (Arizona State University) and the presenters were Geovana Mendonça (ANPED), Rocío García-Carrión (AMIE) and Mustafa Yunus Eryaman (WERA).
Innovations in Learning – Issues for Worldwide Research was the title of the second session, which was chaired by Patricia A. Alexander (University of Maryland) and the presenters were Renate Wesselink (VOR), Winnie Wing-Mui So (HKERA), Arjen Wals, Stan Frijters and Ingrid Gogolin (WERA).
Robert E. Floden (Michigan State University) chaired the third session titled Teacher Education and Teacher Development – Issues for Research Worldwide. This session’s presenters were Joanna Madalińska-Michalak (WERA), Nicola Wills-Espinosa (ASEFIE), Bee Leng Chua (ERAS) and Stefanie Yen Leng Chye (ERAS).
The fourth session was Higher Education in Its Policy Contexts—Issues for Research Worldwide with Laura W. Perna (University of Pennsylvania) as chair and Hsueh-Hua Chuang (TERA-Taiwan), Daniela Véliz (RIECH) and Sergey Malinovsky (RERA) as presenters.
The final session titled A Critical Lens on Evaluation Frameworks and Their Policy Implications – Issues for Research Worldwide was chaired by Carolyn D. Herrington (Florida State University) and the presenters were Gonzalo Jover (SEP), Joe O’Hara (EERA) and Eva L. Baker (AERA).
