New Eurydice Publication :: Key Data on Early Childhood Education and Care in Europe – 2019 Edition
The new edition of Key Data on Early Childhood Education and Care in Europe is published today. Time has come to immerse yourself in a whole Eurydice report dedicated to early childhood education and care (ECEC) where you will quickly find a wealth of data and comparative information on a topic that lays the foundation for all future learning and development. Part one of the report provides a comprehensive account of the current regulations and guidance that govern this sector in European countries. It shows the interrelatedness of the various policies that affect the lives of both children and their parents. Part two gives a national overview of the key features of each ECEC system accompanied by a diagram of its structure. Key findings of the report reveal that only a few European countries ensure a subsidised place in ECEC for every child from the age of 12 months. In contrast, access is almost universal for children during the last year or two before starting primary school.
