NEWS: EdCan Pat Clifford Award 2020

Each year, EdCan organizes the Pat Clifford Award to recognize the work of emerging researchers including their research contributions, promise, and commitment to breaking new ground or revisiting commonly held assumptions in education policy, practice, or theory in Canada.

We are pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for our 2020 Pat Clifford Award and the deadline for submissions is June 11, 2020 at 5:00 pm PDT (Pacific Daylight Time).

The Pat Clifford Award is presented to two early career researchers: one Master’s-level category recipient and one PhD-level category recipient. Applicants can either nominate themselves or be nominated by another person, and must be near the completion of a Master’s or PhD OR have completed a Masters or PhD in the last 2 years (from date of convocation) from a recognized Canadian university.

You have a key leadership role to play in sharing this opportunity with your network of promising Master’s and PhD students including recent graduates, and we encourage you to reach out to those who demonstrate early career promise.

Successful applicants will receive:

  • formal recognition of their research at a public event;
  • an invitation to publish a feature article in the print and online editions of Education Canada Magazine; and
  • opportunities to develop additional knowledge mobilization strategies with EdCan to maximize the impact of their work in the policy and practice fields.

Our most recent winners in 2019 were Dr. Angelica Galante (Assistant Professor at McGill University’s Faculty of Education) and Chris Ostrowdun (PhD Candidate at the University of Calgary’s Werklund School of Education).
