Publication :: National Student Fee and Support Systems in European Higher Education – 2020/21
Student fee and support systems are important tools of national policies in supporting (or discouraging) access to higher education, and can have an impact on progression and completion rates. This Eurydice report presents a comparative overview of the main features of national student fee and financial support systems in European higher education in the 2020/21 academic year. It provides insights on whether any fees are charged to students in higher education, which students may have to pay fees and how much. It also presents public financial support tools available to students, including grants and loans, as well as to their families, in the form of tax benefits to students’ parents and family allowances. With the COVID-19 pandemic, access to higher education has become even more challenging for some students. This report captures some administrative and financial measures adopted by governments in 2020 to support students during the pandemic.
