NEWS: Online Book Launch | Save The Date

Dear WERA Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of a WERA collaborator, The International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA), we are pleased to invite you to for a two-day online event to celebrate the upcoming volume, Influences of the IEA Civic and Citizenship Education Studies: Practice, Policy, and Research Across Countries and Regions.

This open access book identifies the multiple ways that IEA’s studies of civic and citizenship education have contributed to national and international educational discourse, research, policymaking, and practice. The chapters in the first part of the book cover perspectives from 15 countries, and in the second half of the book chapters reflect on regional issues and opportunities for further research.

To release this unique volume, edited by Barbara Malak-Minkiewicz and Judith Torney-Purta, IEA will host an online book event on 1 June. Its purpose is to introduce the book and hear from policy and research voices on the status of civic and citizenship education across countries. Issues concerned with future practice and research will be discussed.

The online book event on 1 June 2021, is planned as an interview with the editors as an introduction, followed by an interactive discussion between chapter authors, country representatives, voices from international policy and attendees.

To be followed by a cost-free, three-hour virtual workshop on 2 June 2021, by IEA’s Research and Analysis Unit, offering an introduction to IEA’s International Civic and Citizenship Education Study (ICCS) 2009 and 2016 databases.

Registration for both sessions will open on 30 April, and all who are interested in the publication’s findings are encouraged to join on one or both days of the event.

We look forward to welcoming you and your interested colleagues to these open events!

Kind regards,
WERA Secretariat
