My name is Bronwyn McIlroy and I am working as a research assistant for Dr. Jen Chisholm at Lakehead University. We are looking for participants to partake in our survey on contra-power harassment.
Do you teach at a Canadian post-secondary institution?
Have you previously taught at a Canadian post-secondary institution?
If so, we’d love to hear from you!
The pervasiveness of sexual harassment within academic spaces has received increasing attention over the last several years, in particular the impact of unequal power relations in circumstances of harassment. We are specifically interested in hearing from folks who have had experiences with “contra-power harassment” (Benson, 1984).
Contra-power harassment refers to the harassment that takes place when the perpetrator has less institutional power than the victim. For instance, between student (perpetrator) and faculty member (victim). This harassment can include inclivity, hostility, bullying, aggression, retaliation, sexual harassment, and/or violence.
If you think you may have had any experiences similar or related to contra-power harassment, please consider filling out this survey: https://forms.gle/dCQa1MWcKXPHysrZA
This survey is intended for current and/or previous faculty members of Canadian post-secondary institutions who identify as women, femmes, non-binary, and/or Queer. Please feel free to share the survey with fellow members of your organization who may be interested in participating.
