NEWS: Call for Proposals: International Mentoring Association Conference (Charlotte, NC) February 2024

Invitation to attend the International Mentoring Association’s Biennial Conference in Charlotte, NC on February 26-27 (pre-conference February 25), 2024.

International Mentoring Association (IMA) welcomes proposals that are focused on aspects of mentoring that can be applied across industries. Our national and international conference attendees will represent corporate, health care, higher education, youth, non-profit, PreK-12 education, academic research, and government mentoring programs.

 

This year’s conference theme is Mentoring Momentum: Moving Forward and Building Traction.

 

The conference will feature two days of concurrent sessions, three keynote speakers, and plenary/concurrent sessions as well as ongoing opportunities for networking with scholars and professionals in the field of mentoring. Please note these dates when submitting a proposal for the IMA 2024 Conference:

 

October 4, 2023 – Proposal Submission Deadline

October 30, 2023 – Notification of Acceptance

Proposal Options Available

 

Concurrent sessions. These 50-minute sessions will allow you to give an interactive presentation. The committee seeks presentations to provide value to professionals across various fields.

 

Poster session. Posters will be featured during the Mentor Networking Reception and will allow you to interact with the audience. This is a great opportunity for first-time speakers or students to present.

 

Trend Talk. In this “Ted-X style” format, share a big idea, a concept, mentoring program experience, or a trend in mentoring in a short 10-15 minute time frame. Please note, your total time slot will be 15 minutes to accommodate multiple Trend Talks in a short time frame.

 

Preparing your Proposal

 

You may submit more than one proposal and/or be a co-presenter. Please note that all presenters will be expected to register for the full duration of the conference.

 

The submission form will ask you for the following information:

 

Contact information: the names and emails of presenters and/or co-presenters
Session type: concurrent, poster session
Intended audience: who will benefit most from your presentation
Title: a descriptive, but concise title for your presentation
Abstract (200 words or less): the abstract will be used to promote your session, please make sure it effectively describes your presentation and how it will benefit attendees.
Description (500 words or less): the description should include a summary of learning objectives, the purpose of the presentation, session content, and the main takeaways from your presentation. You can also include how you are planning to engage with the audience or any other information you would like to share.
Bio: Please provide the bio of the presenters

Review Criteria

 

Proposals will be evaluated by a panel of 4 reviewers using the following standards:

 

Contribution to the IMA Conference focus areas
Clearly stated purpose and objectives
Engaging program format that involves the audience and stimulates discussion
Conceptually strong foundation with appropriate documented research and/or experience
Qualified presenters with expertise in the subject matter
Specified intended audience

 

Proposal decisions will be shared with the coordinating presenter via email in mid- to late October. Peer review comments will be available to the coordinating presenter for all proposals.
