NEWS: WERA – Enrollment is open for IEA’s ICILS 2028

On behalf of the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA), we are pleased to share that enrollment is open for the fourth cycle of IEA’s International Computer and Information Literacy Study (ICILS). Since 2013 ICILS has contributed to the knowledge of young people’s digital literacy education in and outside of schools and provides measures that can be used to monitor changes in students’ digital literacy achievement over time.
State-of-the-art digital assessment

ICILS is the only international large-scale assessment that focuses solely on digital literacy education and provides measures that can be used to monitor changes in students’ digital literacy achievement over time. In addition to measuring student achievement in Computer and Information Literacy (CIL) and Computational Thinking (CT), ICILS collects extensive targeted data relating to the contextual factors associated with students’ digital literacy learning in and outside of school.

Support for measuring key indicators

ICILS provides reliable, comparative, and actionable data that can help monitor progress toward education goals. ICILS informs on progress toward the proportion of youths/adults with ICT skills (UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 Indicator 4.4.1) and the use of the data collected supports the European Commission’s Digital Education Action Plan to reduce the proportion of eighth-grade students with computer and information literacy (CIL) below Level two to less than 15% by 2030.

How to enroll

Enrollment is open for countries and entities interested in participating in ICILS 2028. For more information, please visit the ICILS 2028 page (https://www.iea.nl/studies/iea/icils/2028).
